At the head of every large organisation, we typically find the chief executive officer. This is the highest ranking executive within a company and they typically have complete oversight and the final say in all business decisions. In many cases, the CEO is also the founder of the company. It is their idea and vision brought to life, and they are rightly at the helm.
The CEO is the vision and the driving force behind the company. As the person who makes all of the final calls, it’s essential that they are decisive and able to act on conflicting information from lots of sources. They also need to be effective communicators and very persuasive as they may need to convince investors that their idea is worth backing and reassure investors during times of change.

They make the final decisions and decide which direction to take their company in, based on the information given to them by their team of executives. This is a critical role for the success of a company, and stability in the CEO’s office is often an indicator of stability in the company.

They are often responsible for hiring the team around them, including the other C-suite executives. The CEO also needs to be an effective leader and be able to quickly gain the trust of their workers. They will be responsible for motivating the team to prioritise success from the top down, so they need to be able to engage with people at all levels of the organisation.
