February 20, 2026
The South West HR market has seen a strategic resurgence in the latter half of February. While the beginning of the month focused on operational “fixes” and technical support, the last two weeks have seen a return of high-level Business Partnering (HRBP) and Employee Relations (ER) leadership roles, driven by major global brands.
The “February Pivot” has matured into a significant push for senior talent and cross-regional leadership.
The Return (and Growth) of the Amazon ER Role: The Employee Relations Manager role at Amazon (Bristol) has returned to the list and instantly surpassed 200 applicants. This remains the benchmark for high-volume, high-stakes ER competition in the South West.
HRBP Resurgence: There is a significant influx of Business Partner roles across diverse sectors. Notable new entries include HR Business Partner (Arup), Senior People Partner (Procentia), and Learning and Development Business Partner (Dyson).
Global & Niche Leads: New specialist roles have appeared, such as the Human Factors Integration Specialist (Ministry of Defence) and Global Employer Services Assistant Manager (RSM UK), showing a demand for niche technical expertise within HR frameworks.
Remote & Flexible Partnering: Several “Remote” and “Part-time” senior roles have entered the market, including HR Manager (Remote) and HR Advisor (Part-time), suggesting that employers are increasingly using flexibility to attract top-tier talent.
The technical “process” roles that dominated early February have largely been secured.
Process & Performance Fills: The Performance Process Lead (CMS UK) and People Operations Advisor (Leidos) roles are now off the market, likely filled given their high applicant counts earlier this month.
ER Specialist Shift: The specific ER Specialist roles at GSA and Yugo from two weeks ago have been replaced by broader People Partner and ER Advisor roles, indicating a shift from purely case-handling specialists to more integrated advisory roles.
Talent & Rewards Cleared: The Total Rewards Business Partner (Alliance Pharmaceuticals) and Talent Acquisition Partner (Marlborough College) roles have also closed.
Applicant density is shifting towards senior strategic roles as professionals move for the new financial year.
The “200 Club”: The Amazon ER Manager role is currently the most sought-after HR position in the region with Over 200 applicants.
High-Growth Partnering: Procentia’s Senior People Partner role has attracted 138 applicants, while the Talent Acquisition Business Partner (West) role at Vinarchy has reached 66 applicants in a very short window.
Top Employers: The Ministry of Defence, Dyson, Arup, and Hays are the most active “big brand” recruiters in the region this week.
