Location: Swindon,

Salary: £17.95 ph (depending on experience)

Job Type: Temporary (Initial 3-Month Contract)

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)

Workshop Plant Engineer – Temporary Contract with Potential Long-Term Opportunity.

Due to continued growth and expansion, I have been requested by our Client, to recruit a motivated and experienced Workshop Plant Engineer to join their busy and growing operation on an initial 3-month temporary contract to provide cover during a period of long-term absence.

For the right candidate, there is potential for longer-term opportunities as the business continues to expand.

Our client specialises in supplying and maintaining a wide range of heavy plant machinery and construction equipment, supporting projects across multiple sectors. They pride themselves on creating a friendly, supportive working environment where teamwork, reliability, and quality workmanship are highly valued.

This opportunity would suit an engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced workshop environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and can work independently while contributing positively to a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and repair faults across a wide range of plant and construction equipment
• Carry out planned servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance activities
• Perform hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and pneumatic fault finding and repairs
• Prepare machinery for hire, ensuring equipment meets operational and safety standards
• Complete service reports, maintenance records and inspection documentation accurately
• Identify parts requirements and liaise effectively with workshop and operational teams
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
• Follow company health and safety procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with plant machinery, construction equipment, HGVs, agricultural equipment or similar heavy machinery
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
• Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
• Positive attitude with strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work in a hands-on environment
