We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Depot Manager to join our client’s team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual with a background in depot management or the transport industry to take on a key role within an established business.

As Assistant Depot Manager, you will play an important role in organising and controlling the daily operation of the LGV fleet, ensuring that driver and vehicle production targets are achieved efficiently and safely.

You will be responsible for overseeing operational performance, planning and optimising vehicle routes, monitoring driver productivity and ensuring the depot operates in full compliance with relevant legislation and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Organising and controlling the operation of the LGV fleet
• Ensuring operational activities are carried out efficiently and in line with company procedures and standards
• Planning and optimising vehicle routes
• Monitoring and managing driver performance to maintain productivity, safety and operational excellence.
• Ensuring vehicles and drivers are deployed effectively to meet operational requirements
• Ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, including the Road Traffic Act, Preparing and managing cost schedules to ensure the most cost-effective disposal of waste

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience running a depot in a managerial position – essential
• Good knowledge and understanding of the transport industry.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• The ability to manage and monitor driver performance effectively.
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• A flexible and proactive approach to supporting the wider operation.

Desirable:

• Transport Manager CPC qualification.
