The Bristol HR market has seen a subtle shift from a technology focus back to core Employee Relations (ER) and a persistent demand for high-salary Strategic Business Partnering and Distribution-focused HR.

 

Key New Opportunities and Trends

  • Global Systems & Process: The focus on HR systems has moved to a higher-level governance role with the new Global HR Process & Systems Lead at Imperial Brands, indicating a move from local implementation (Workday/HRIS roles last week) to global process standardisation.
  • Employee Relations (ER) Reinforcement: Demand for ER specialists remains extremely strong with a new Employee Relations Business Partner at Network Rail. The People Relations Case Professional at BT Group continues to be the most highly contested job, with applicants rising sharply to 197 (up from 176 last week).
  • Senior Management: A high-salary HR Manager – Distribution role at Zachary Daniels (£60,000 – £62,000) and a Strategic HR Business Partner role at an hourly rate of £78.50/hr are new, showing continued investment in specialised, senior operational roles.
  • Mid-Level Partnering: New HR Business Partner roles have appeared at Osprey Engineering Solutions (£50,000 – £60,000) and Cornish Bakery (£40,000), broadening the range of available partnering roles.

 

Roles No Longer Available (Quick Fills)

The market is extremely efficient at filling specialised and highly strategic roles.

  • Strategic Partners Filled: The high-value Strategic HR Business Partner role at Artis Recruitment (£80,000 – £90,000) and most of the Strategic People Partner roles at the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust from last week are no longer listed.
  • HR Tech Roles Closed: Last week’s emphasis on tech has resulted in rapid recruitment, as the HR Information Systems Officer (GKN Aerospace) and the People Systems Partner (Civica) are gone.
  • L&D Closed: The Learning and Development Partner role at South West Water has been removed.

Continuing Positions and Trends

  • Administrative Competition: The number of applicants for junior roles remains highly competitive. The HR Administrator role at Zachary Daniels has quickly gathered 60 applicants, while new People Services Administrator roles are also appearing.
  • Long-Term Improvement: The HR Process Improvement Manager at CMS UK remains active, with the job now showing 80 applicants.
  • Specialist Retention: The Reward Partner at Dyson remains advertised.
