UK recruitment consultancies reported a 31st consecutive monthly decline in permanent placements in April.
This slowdown was attributed to employer caution stemming from economic uncertainty and budget constraints due to increased payroll costs.
While still sharp, the rate of decline was the least severe since September. The South of England experienced the most significant drop in permanent hires, while London saw the mildest decrease.
