Timber Store Operative

Andover, Hampshire

Salary up to £37,050

Full time and Permanent working 47.5 hours per week

Monday to Friday 07:30am – 5:30pm

Benefits including as follows:

  • Overtime: Overtime is paid at time and a half after 47.5 hours per week.
  • Holiday: 21 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays.
  • Pension: 9% contribution, split as 5% from the employer and 4% from the employee.

Due to Business growth, we have been requested to recruit a Timber Store Operative to join our client based in Andover to join their successful joinery shop.  

The duties and responsibilities will include as follows:

Previous experience working in a timber store is essential.

Side loader / multi directional forklift license would be an advantage; however training can be provided after successful completion of a probationary period.

Timber Cutting:

  • Operate re-saw and crosscut saw to cut hardwood and softwood timber to specified dimensions and lengths.
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in timber cutting to minimize waste and maximize material utilization.

Material Handling:

  • Safely handle and transport timber materials within the store using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of timber stock, ensuring proper storage and labelling of materials.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect timber materials for defects, damages, or irregularities before and after cutting processes.
  • Segregate and discard defective or substandard timber to maintain quality standards.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of re-saw, crosscut saw, and other machinery to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisors for timely resolution.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the timber store.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and always follow safe work practices.
