Payroll Lead

Full Time, Permanent

£27,500 to £30,500 depending on experience + excellent benefits!

Our Client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Payroll Lead, to join their Human Resources team. Reporting to the Head of HR & Workforce Development, you will play a crucial role in processing our client’s payroll and managing various payroll-related tasks. As the primary point of contact for our outsourced payroll provider, you will ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll processes.

Under the direction of the Head of HR & Workforce Development and as a member of the Human Resources team, the Payroll Lead will be responsible for processing the payroll, managing starters, leavers, offers, contracts, contract addenda, reports, and other payroll-related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Process the monthly payroll and handle payroll matters promptly
  • Manage processes such as childcare vouchers, student loan payments, and more
  • Handle new starter onboarding and process employee departures
  • Maintain accurate employee records and resolve inquiries
  • Ensure proper administration of sick pay, maternity pay, and paternity pay
  • Develop and optimise payroll department processes
  • Administer and report on relevant pension schemes
  • Oversee the return to work process and fit notes for absent employees
  • Run reports on contract changes and issue new contracts and addenda
  • Facilitate archiving and destruction of records in compliance with GDPR

Skills & Experience:

  • Level 2 (e.g., GCSE C or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Certificate in Personnel (or HR) Practice (level 3)
  • Payroll CIPP qualification (level 3) or AAT level 3 qualification
  • Good working knowledge of HR communication and administrative activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Recent HR administration experience in a medium-sized organisation

The hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

This role is based in the centre of Bath (no parking on site) OR it can be based in Radstock – Some travel to each site will be required
